December 6, 2020 – To help slow the spread of COVID-19 and to prevent hospitals from being overrun, California Governor Gavin Newsom last week announced a Regional Stay Home Order that would go into effect the day after any of five California “regions” falls below 15 percent hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) availability. Under this stay home order, non-essential businesses in an affected region must close.

Riverside County, the location of Luxfer’s Riverside manufacturing facility, falls into the Southern California Region, which saw its ICU availability drop below this 15 percent threshold on Saturday, December 5.

As a result, effective 11:59pm on Sunday, December 6, the Regional Stay Home Order went into effect in Riverside County and will remain in effect for at least 3 weeks. After this period, the order will be lifted when a region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15 percent.

Since Luxfer is, by California state definition, an essential supplier to critical infrastructure (manufacturing products that support fire/emergency services, the medical industry and the transportation sector), operations in the Luxfer Riverside facility will continue during the Regional Stay Home Order.

Luxfer continues to vigorously enforce COVID-19 safety protocols throughout our facilities to prevent community spread.  These protocols include physical distancing, universally mandatory facial coverings, employee temperature checks, work center cleaning, glove use, and hand washing and sanitization.
