Smart Cylinders is a wireless, radio-frequency system consisting of a programmable transponder tag integrated into the cylinder’s composite structure and an electronic device that allows the user to read information on the tag. Smart Cylinder eliminates labor-intensive, error prone manual data entry and speeds up data retrieval, thus saving you time and money. Luxfer can also retrofit your existing composite cylinders with Smart Cylinder technology.

The tag includes areas for two types of information: Private sectors that contain manufacturers information, as well as public sectors for storage of a wide variety of asset-tracking information, such as hydrostatic testing dates, serial numbers, part numbers, and cylinder owner information. Information can be quickly downloaded onto a computer for use in popular databases, including Microsoft Access.

Since the tag is actually part of the composite structure, it is well protected from damage during cylinder transportation and use. The Smart Cylinder system has been thoroughly tested under conditions far more extreme than those commonly found in cylinder applications.
