Luxfer Cylinders helps raise funds for Cambridge University's scuba team

NOTTINGHAM, England (Dec. 21, 2007) — Luxfer and its distributor Sea and Sea helped the Cambridge University Underwater Exploration Group (CUUEG) celebrate their 50th anniversary by donating 7-litre and 11-litre scuba cylinders made from Luxfer’s proprietary L6X® aluminium alloy, together with valves, as fund-raising prizes for the group’s celebration ball.
Founded in 1957, CUUEG was the first university branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club. The group combines scientific underwater research with diving expeditions around the world.
The anniversary ball attracted more than 130 guests representing all five decades of CUUEG. The evening culminated in a screening of the film “50 Years Young,” featuring underwater footage from the team’s 1958 Apollonia Expedition.
